The Camaraderie Group Story
How a Coat Hanger Inspired Us to Create a Company
Tim Goodman and Holden Farahani, college friends and founders of Summit Concentrates, are no strangers to the challenges of cannabis. Tim, coming from the consumer packaged goods industry, and Holden, with a background in the food and beverage industry, were both experienced businessmen when they entered the cannabis space. At Summit, they faced mounting operational hurdles and inefficiencies that were eating away at profits. High costs and fragmented workflows were threatening the survival of their business.
One of their most vexing issues was a surprisingly basic one: the tedious, manual process of removing dried cannabis flowers from hangers. This wasn’t just wasting time—it was damaging valuable buds, adding to their losses. (Continues…)
Determined to find a solution, Tim and Holden came up with a simple yet clever fix—a redesigned hanger that allows workers to “dump” dried flowers off one side rather than pulling them through by hand. This innovation, along with many other small, incremental improvements, added up to significant savings, ultimately making the business profitable and saving it.
Through this and similar experiences, they learned a powerful lesson: small improvements, multiplied across many operations, lead to big gains. They realized that the cannabis industry could thrive if operators shared knowledge, cooperated, and focused on innovation and strong standards. This belief in breaking down barriers through shared knowledge and cooperation became the driving force behind their next venture—Camaraderie Group.
Years after Summit Concentrates, Tim and Holden launched Camaraderie Group to foster the spirit of collaboration and to overcome the secrecy and mistrust holding the industry back. Today, Camaraderie Group helps operators not just survive, but thrive, offering innovative, practical solutions that ensure long-term success.
